5 Days Mt. Kenya Summit Trek: Sirimon to Chogoria Route

Depart from Nairobi at 8:00 drive to -Sirimon gate for (approx. 3 hours) and  and after the park formalities start the walk  to Judmaier camp altitude 2650m-3300m  9km walk The 9km gradual climb starts from sirimon gate of mtkenya to oldmoses camp,whereby our driving time from nairobi to nanyuki will be 3d-4 hours,the hike is through beautiful forest  covered with East African Pencil Cedar trees, Poducarpus trees and the giant Hygenia trees to oldmoses camp,where plenty of animals like the rock hyrax,elephants,bufalloes,baboons may be seen,similary on a clear day you may see the summits of mtkenya,batian and nelion.

The hike starts very early in the morning and takes about 6-7 hours to the base camp on the northern side of mtkenya,one has to walk through the Likii junction and Mackinders valley on the altitude from 3700m, there is a great massive view of Terere and Sendeo peaks. And the rear great view of Nanyuki town and beautiful terrain. Shipton’s camp has also an excellent upward setting of the north faces of Nelion peak and Batian peak.the distance from oldmoses camp to shiptons camp is 13kms.in order to beat up with the weather picnic lunch is provided on the way.The trail passes giant groundsels and offers views of Batian and Nelion. Overnight at Shipton's.

Early morning departure at 3:00 oclock leave the Shipton’s camp to Point Lenana traversing through the soft stone screes,with the headlights,on a lucky day the moon light is bright with very beautiful stars above the sky,the trek takes 3 hours to reach to the summit for the sunrise and on a lucky day you will be able to see mt kilimanjaro on the south, and then descend to Mintos Camp for full breakfast.after an hour break rest walk further to road head camp 3300m.9km walk for lunch break and overnight sleep at 3300m

After breakfast, walk for 7 km from road head (3300m).You need your camera to help keep the spectacular panoramic sceneries of Mugi, Ithangune and the Giant Billiards Table, and not forgetting the main peaks. You will gain an elevation up to 600 m. We get time to have snacks/ packed lunch. Bushwack to Road head and ultimately to Nithi falls. Descend to the floor of the falls while enjoying the continuous flow and the roaring. We hike back to bandas lodge for a deserving hot shower. A hot meal will lead a soothing night sleep. D

After breakfast, set on morning journey to Chogoria forest. vehicles are provided to the camp, but you may walk for 4km ,the chogoria forest is ever green,with baboo bushes that form a canopy,animals such as tropical baboons,water bucks,and bufalloes may be seen on the way.  Chogoria transport is provided back to Nairobi, arriving late afternoon
