Serengeti Great Migration Camping Safari
Follow two million wildebeest across the Serengeti on an immersive 5-day camping safari.
Overview
Witness the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth -- over two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle thundering across the Serengeti plains in search of fresh grazing. This 5-day camping safari takes you deep into the Serengeti's Central and Northern zones to follow the migration herds, with the chance to witness dramatic river crossings and Big Five encounters. Camping under canvas in the heart of the wilderness places you closer to the action than any lodge.
Highlights
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Early morning departure from Arusha. Drive through the Great Rift Valley and Ngorongoro Highlands with a lunch stop at the crater rim. Descend into the Serengeti through the Naabi Hill gate for an afternoon game drive across the Central Seronera valley -- the park's wildlife heartland. Camp near the Seronera River.
Activities
Full day exploring the Central Serengeti's prime wildlife areas with morning and afternoon game drives. The Seronera Valley is famous for its year-round big cat populations -- lions in the kopje rocks, leopards in the sausage trees, and cheetahs on the open plains. Picnic lunch in the bush.
Activities
Drive north through the Western Corridor and Grumeti area toward the Mara River region (June-October) or follow the migration herds seasonally. Full day of game driving through changing landscapes. The northern Serengeti offers the best chance for dramatic river crossings. Camp in the northern zone.
Activities
Spend the entire day tracking the migration herds with your expert guide. Watch for river crossings, predator-prey interactions, and the sheer drama of millions of animals on the move. This is Africa's ultimate wildlife theatre. Sundowner drinks at camp as the savannah turns golden.
Activities
Early morning game drive before departing the Serengeti. Drive back through the Ngorongoro Highlands to Arusha, arriving by late afternoon. Optional stop at a Maasai village or curio market en route.
