5 Days-sirimon route-Point Lenana Summit Trekking

Early morning departure from Nairobi (approx. 08:00) for the 3-hour drive to Sirimon Gate on the north-west slope of Mount Kenya National Park. After park registration and a briefing from your lead guide, we begin our gradual ascent up hike through open moorland, giant heather and rosewood zones, gaining altitude steadily over approximately 4 hours to reach Old Moses Camp (3,300 m) by early afternoon. A warm lunch awaits at camp. The afternoon is free to rest and acclimatize. Dinner and overnight camping at Old Moses .

After an early breakfast we leave the heather zone and climb steeply through Mackinder's Valley, passing fields of giant lobelias and groundsel plants found nowhere else on Earth. The dramatic twin summits of Batian and Nelion come into full view as we gain the higher moorland. We arrive at Shipton's Camp (4,200 m) by early afternoon, allowing time to rest, rehydrate and monitor your body's response to altitude. Your guide will conduct an evening health check. Dinner and overnight at Shipton's Camp.

A dedicated acclimatization day is critical for a safe summit attempt. Following the 'climb high, sleep low' principle, after breakfast we hike up the North Circuit path toward Two Tarn Col (approx. 4,480 m), building red blood cell production and letting your body adjust to the thin air. We descend back to Shipton's Camp before noon. The afternoon is reserved for rest, equipment checks and hydration. An early dinner is served at 17:30, followed by a summit night briefing at 18:30 and lights out by 19:00 in preparation for the 02:00 wake-up.

Wake-up call at 02:00. After hot drinks and a light snack, we depart Shipton's Camp at 02:30 under headlamps, ascending the north ridge scree slopes in the dark. The pace is slow and steady - your guide sets a 'pole pole' (Swahili for slowly-slowly) rhythm to conserve energy. The final scramble over the rocky summit block brings you onto Point Lenana (4,985 m), Africa's third highest peak, timed to coincide with sunrise. On clear mornings Kilimanjaro (170 km south) and the Aberdare Ranges are visible. We spend 20 minutes on the summit for photos and celebration before beginning the long descent. Breakfast stop at Shipton's, then we continue the full descent through Mackinder's Valley back to Old Moses Camp for the final night.

After a relaxed breakfast and a well-earned lie-in, a final short descending hike (approximately 2 hours) through heather moorland returns us to Sirimon Gate. After signing out of the national park we board our vehicle for the comfortable drive back to Nairobi, arriving approximately 14:00. Drop-off at your hotel or Nairobi city centre.The rest of the day is free in Nairobi.
