Overview

The 6-day Marangu Route—traditionally nicknamed the "Coca-Cola Route"—is the oldest and most established trail up Mount Kilimanjaro. It is highly distinct because it is the only path offering permanent, dormitory-style A-frame hut accommodations instead of tent camping. While a minimum 5-day version exists, choosing the 6-day itinerary adds a crucial acclimatization day at Horombo Hut, which significantly boosts your summit success rate from roughly 50% to over 80%

Highlights

Only Kilimanjaro route with comfortable hut accommodation
Well-graded trail through 5 ecological zones
Acclimatization day at Horombo Hut (3,720m) boosts summit success
Approach and descent on the same path -- shortest route
50-80% summit success rate on the 6-day itinerary
